Autonomous vehicle positioning technology firm Swift Navigation has announced the appointment of Samir Kapoor as Executive Vice President of Engineering and Product.
Kapoor has more than 20 years of experience in engineering organisations at leading firms. His most recent role was at Fitbit, prior to which he worked for ten years at Qualcomm, where he served as Vice President of Engineering. He also held leadership roles in software engineering and wireless technology development at the company.
In his new role on Swift’s executive team he will report to the company’s Co-Founder and CEO Timothy Harris.
“Swift Navigation is delighted to welcome Samir to our executive team and we look forward to benefiting from his leadership in engineering and product development,” said Harris.
“Specifically, his vast experience in sensors and wireless technologies is certain to accelerate our focus on high-precision sensors for autonomous vehicles.”
The company says that its GPS and GNSS positioning products deliver 100 times greater accuracy than the GPS available in a cell phone.
“Swift Navigation is leading the charge in the exciting field of high-precision GNSS with the immense potential to offer solutions to enable autonomous vehicles to precisely and safely navigate, enabling the next generation of self-driving cars,” said Kapoor.
“I am thrilled to lead a team that is advancing the state of the art in this new application of GNSS technology.”
