LiDAR technology firm RoboSense has appointed Dr. Leilei Shinohara as Vice President of R&D, tasked with growing and developing automotive grade mass production of RoboSense’s LiDAR products.
Prior to joining RoboSense, Dr. Shinohara was Technical Lead, Asia OEMs at Valeo, where he was responsible for automotive LiDAR, safety, and sensors.
He managed a team across six countries, responsible for developing systems, software, hardware, mechanics, testing/validation, and safety for the first automotive grade LiDAR product.

Dr. Shinohara graduated from Tokyo Institute of Technology with a Bachelor Degree in System and Control Engineering and Masters in Mechanical and Control System Engineering.
During six years of PhD studies at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Shinohara focused on LiDAR and was involved in sensor projects. Dr. Shinohara and his team then developed a LiDAR system that was acquired by a German Tier 1 company.
